Lipgloss/ Eyeshadow

Remember when I said I wanted to make homemade lipgloss?? Well I got the containers today, but am going to wait until next week to get all the oils and ingredients to make it from scratch.

In the meantime, I have a bunch of mineral powder colors that I never use for eyeshadow, so I decided to make some lipgloss/eyeshadow with  them today.

I mixed a few of the colors together and added some Vaseline into the bottle to make them creamy... and they also add a little shine when you apply them. I made one that has glitter in it for a night out on the town, the neutral colored one is for eyeshadow, and I mixed together a crimson red colored one for lipstick... they turned out great (except I would never wear them all at once.... look like a drag queen)... but I am excited to make more and experiment with colors... I love greens, so I might mix a few of those together!

Here is what they look like!! I am going to try and make the natural ingredient lipgloss next week, so we will see how those turn out!!

Cases are from The Container Store ($0.99) and the mineral makeup you can grab from I.D Bare Essentials!!

Headbands

I am off work today and I was thinking how much I love creative buttons and headbands... so, I figured, why not make some headbands using creative buttons?? Since I am now growing out my hair, which by the way, will take about another 5 years at the rate that my hair grows... I have been wearing more headbands and figure this is a cheap way to mix it up and add some fun accessories to my outfits!

Here are a few that I made today.... I am no pro, but thought they might be cute with a sundress or a casual outfit...

I think they turned out pretty cute!! I am excited to wear them with jeans and a t-shirt!

My next venture will be making my own lipgloss, yes, I know this sounds super silly, but I LOVE lipgloss and found some fun recipes to use in making my own.. honey almond, cranberry and lemon! Now I just need to find some cute small containers to put them in.. I will let you know how it all works out!

Decorations I love...

So, throughout this never ending process of decorating our house (which Tyler would say we were done decorating the week we moved in..), I have decided a few things...

1. My house will never completely look EXACTLY the way I want it, so I need to stop trying so hard
2. I really am OCD about some things...
3. I LOVE pottery barn catalogs and this is why I am having trouble with the #1 thing I just wrote about.

My goal someday would be to have this captivating house where it looks exactly the way I want it, but for now, I will be content with what I have been blessed with thus far.

Here are some pictures of decorations around my house that I absolutely love!!!

I am still working on a few more items for the house... super excited for Fall decorations, so I will take more pictures when they are up!

Since I know you are all dying to see my first recipe that I am going to try this week, here it is!! I found this recipe on Martha Stewart's website and think it looks easy and tasty! I will let you know how it turns out!

Chicken with Artichokes and Angel Hair Pasta

Chicken with Artichokes and Angel Hair
Pantry staples, chicken, and fast-cooking pasta add up to an impressive 25-minute meal.
Prep: 25 minutes
Total: 25 minutes

Ingredients

Serves 4
  • Coarse salt and ground pepper
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 8 thin chicken cutlets (about 1 1/2 pounds total)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 can (14 ounces) artichoke hearts packed in water, rinsed, drained, and quartered
  • 2 tablespoons rinsed and drained capers
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 8 ounces angel-hair pasta
  • 1/2 cup parsley leaves

Directions

  1. Set a large pot of salted water to boil. Place flour in a shallow dish, and season with salt and pepper. Dredge cutlets, shaking off excess. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high. Cook chicken in batches, adding remaining oil as needed, until light golden, 1 to 3 minutes per side; transfer to a dish.
  2. Add broth to skillet, and bring to a boil; cook until reduced by half. Add artichokes, capers, and the chicken with any juices. Gently swirl to combine, and bring just to a boil. Remove skillet from heat. Swirl in butter, and cover to keep warm.
  3. Add pasta to boiling water. Cook until al dente; drain. Serve chicken and sauce over pasta, topped with parsley.

Here we go!

This can't be that hard right?? My very first post on a my very first blog.... Here we go!

Since I quit teaching this past year and have taken a whole new career path... I have come upon the realization that:

1. I LOVE TO COOK (for those of you who know me on Facebook, you are well aware of this

I am not sure if this is due to the fact that I...

1. Received A LOT of cooking items for our wedding
2. Always loved to cook, but had no one to cook for
3. Just decided one fine day that "this looks like fun"

At any rate, I LOVE TO COOK and decided that posting my new found recipes might be interesting in a blog, rather that on the "What are you thinking right now" section of facebook.

2. I LOVE TO BLOG STALK... yup I will admit it...

I have found blogs through friends of friends or family and they have really intrigued me.. especially the crafts and recipes that everyone seems to be posting about!!

3. I LOVE TO DRINK COFFEE AT COFFEE SHOPS AND BE ON MY LAPTOP ON DAYS OFF...

Those of you who know me know that this is what gets me up in the morning, well besides God and my amazing husband... so... what better way to sip a latte than to write a blog WHILE I am sipping a latte!!

4. I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES... just haven't done it in a while... so...

This is the perfect place to post what I have been taking pictures of... and to keep track of my life...

So there ya have it, my new Blog.... I have a feeling we will become lifelong friends! I encourage you to sit back, grab a latte and take a sneak peak into the life of me (well Tyler and I, since I am sure that this blog will include him quite a bit!) ENJOY!!
